Understanding the Nature of Autism is a very personal work, written with the encouragement of parents who want others to understand the way their children think and of dedicated teachers who are too busy to search the literature and apply the research-teachers who have said they wish they had known these things sooner.

This book is essentially a reference book that integrates autism research and develops process for applying this research to meet the very individual learning and behavioural needs of children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Because I am an educator, my primary goal is to insure that children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders receive educational and other services from well-informed parents, professionals and other service providers. Therefore, I may mention but not go into detail about medical, dignostic, or other treatment issues.
